What’s it like to work with Odds & Evens?
It’s all about getting to know you & your company so we can help you put your best foot forward. There are generally four stages that every engagement goes through:
1 The Initial Discovery
Our first step is always a phone call. This is a chance for me to learn about you, your business, your goals, and how we can work together to achieve them… And because we believe a good fit is important, this call is a chance for you to learn a little bit about me, the Odds & Evens team, and how our firm operates.
2 The Proposal Meeting
Based on the information that we’ve gathered from you, we will create a customized proposal for you and your business. We then sit down for a meeting to review the proposal and answer any questions you might have.
3 Onboarding
Once you accept your proposal, the work starts. This is the point we will introduce you to any team members you might be working with, set up & show you how to use any new apps or programs we’re going to be using and catch up on any outstanding bookkeeping or filings. Onboarding can take anywhere from 2 weeks to 3 months depending on how complex your work is.
4 Regularly Scheduled Bookkeeping
Now that your books are set up and current the fun starts! Because every business is unique and has specific needs, we don’t offer specific packages, but most of our engagements fit into one of three categories:
Bookkeeping Review:
A lot of clients either want to do their bookkeeping themselves or have a bookkeeper on staff. We think that’s excellent. For these clients our work centers on providing oversight – answering any niggling questions, giving advice, helping with tricky entries, completing monthly or quarterly reconciliations & reviews.
Monthly Bookkeeping:
Like it says on the tin. For these clients, bookkeeping is updated on a monthly basis. We will go into your books and enter transactions (invoices, expenses, payments, etc.), reconcile accounts, and perform regularly scheduled reviews to make sure your books are in tip-top shape. We will keep you up to date on your government filings and send reminders about any payments you have to make. At the end of each month, you should expect an email with a list of questions if we are missing documents or haven’t seen certain transactions before. Because we are working with you each month, we’ll build knowledge of your company and how you operate, which means we won’t ask the same question twice. Promise! You’ll receive a monthly financial report outlining your performance.
Weekly Bookkeeping:
Weekly bookkeeping services is where we are able to offer the most help. For these clients, we do all of the above but on a weekly basis rather than once a month. Additionally, we offer cash management services where we can arrange a phone call each week to review your accounts payables and receivables. We can post and pay bills, invoice and collect payment from your customers. In addition to the weekly AP and AR update, you’ll still receive regular monthly reporting.
Additionally… Payroll services:
Yes, we do payroll! We offer payroll packages including processing, ROE creation and filing, year-end review and the preparation and filing of T4’s and RL-1’s. Our preferred payroll provider is Payment Evolution, which offers remittance services so you never have to worry about forgetting to remit your source deductions again.
